DJ Muggs may be best known as part of the influential hip-hop group, Cypress Hill; however the acclaimed DJ/producer has also released highly influential solo-projects (Soul Assassin Series, Grandmasters with Wu-Tang Clan’s GZA), and produced hits such hits as House of Pain's “Jump Around” and Ice Cube's “Check Yo Self”, among many others. Throughout his distinguished career, Muggs has established a precedent for working hand in hand with artists and creating cohesive bodies of work, rather than spreading around beats from project to project. This rings true once again on Kill Devil Hills.
Ill Bill was a founding member of Non Phixion, who released their seminal debut, The Future Is Now, in 2002. He has since released two influential solo LPs, receiving critical acclaim for his raw, thought-provoking lyrics, often paying homage to his long-time love of heavy metal music. Bill has also released an LP as a member of the bi-coastal conglomerate La Coka Nostra (which also includes Everlast, Danny Boy and DJ Lethal of House Of Pain and newcomer Slaine). Ill Bill’s, The Hour Of Reprisal (2008), showed flashes of what the future would hold, as Bill and Muggs collaborated on two tracks (“This Is Who I Am” & “Only Time Will Tell”) for Bill’s most recent solo LP.

New behind-the-scenes video posted on YouTube
NASHVILLE, TN – Nashville’s dynamic Southern metal outfit, The Showdown, has posted the second installment in a series of behind-the-scenes in-studio videos on YouTube. The new episode follows The Showdown’s guitarists, Josh Childers and Patrick Judge, as they shred their way through the recording process of the forthcoming full-length, Blood In The Gears, which will hit stores on August 24th on Solid State Records. Blood In The Gears was recorded and produced by The Showdown’s own Jeremiah Scott (bass) at his home studio, Anthem Productions. “’Old Yeller’ was a collaboration between a filmmaker friend of ours named Dave Danesh, and Morgan Nichols,” explains vocalist Steve Murphy. “The idea surrounding it is pretty self-explanatory and goes hand-in-hand with the lyrics. The song is about how the media has been bought off by the US government, and therefore lost its way in terms of protecting our democracy as the fourth check and balance. So grab a nice cold PBR and hail the demise of our glorious nation.”

DJ Muggs may be best known as part of the influential hip-hop group, Cypress Hill; however the acclaimed DJ/producer has also released highly influential solo-projects (Soul Assassin Series, Grandmasters with Wu-Tang Clan’s GZA), and produced hits such hits as House of Pain's “Jump Around” and Ice Cube's “Check Yo Self”, among many others. Ill Bill was a founding member of Non Phixion, who released their seminal debut, The Future Is Now, in 2002. He has since released two influential solo LPs, receiving critical acclaim for his raw, thought-provoking lyrics, often paying homage to his long-time love of heavy metal music. Bill has also released an LP as a member of the bi-coastal conglomerate La Coka Nostra (which also includes Everlast, Danny Boy and DJ Lethal of House Of Pain and newcomer Slaine). CHRISTMAS IN OCTOBER!
NYC Rocker, Julie Christmas, to Release Solo Album this Fall
NEW YORK - Brooklyn's Julie Christmas has been mysteriously under the radar as of late. But far from disappearing, the emerging singer/songwriter has been busier than ever. Christmas is scheduled to release her first solo record, The Bad Wife, this fall. More details about the album are forthcoming, but "July 31st", a song from the pending release, is featured on the soundtrack for Paramount film, Wrong Turn at Tahoe, starring Harvey Keitel and Cuba Gooding Jr. A video to promote the album is in production.
"I use sounds to express feelings and ideas that I am too clumsy to get across with words alone," explains Christmas. "Working with amazing visual artists - people who speak in images - gets me one step closer to really communicating with anyone nuts enough to listen."
First noticed for her startling performances in NYC underground band Made Out of Babies, and her devastating vocals in Battle of Mice, and super-group Spylacopa, Christmas has been busy expanding her repertoire. Currently, Christmas is collaborating with Nix Turner, renowned illustrator of worldwide counterculture icon, Emily the Strange, to create a book titled The Scribbles and Scrapes of Amy Anyone: (A Multiple Personality Autobiography). Christmas wrote the story and is working on music for the release of an accompanying CD, which features a tone signaling the reader to turn the page.
In addition, the singer recently worked on the soundtrack for a French indie film Le Debut, in which a young couple resorts to infanticide when faced with the challenges of poverty, depression and parenthood. Christmas's band, Made Out of Babies, is currently writing their fourth full-length album, scheduled to be released in the Spring of 2011. Live shows and exhibitions with visual artists are being arranged. We should be hearing a lot from Christmas in the upcoming year.

Thorp Records debut to hit stores next month
BOSTON – New England’s hardcore/metal veteran act, Hell Within, has set a July 13th release date for their Thorp Records debut, God Grant Me Vengeance. The ferocious follow-up to 2007’s, Shadows of Vanity (Lifeforce Records), was recorded at Damage Studios in Massachusetts, with engineer/producer, Pete Rutcho (Bury Your Dead). The new record was produced by Hell Within and Rutcho, and artwork comes courtesy of Hell Within vocalist, J.J. Long.
Guitarist Tony Zimmerman explains, “(God Grant Me Vengeance) is more crushing than the Hammer of Thor. The tour has been great too. It’s nice to be back out seeing people we know, as well as many new ones. We can’t wait for the next one with the album being released. We’re having a blast!”

Fronted by punk legend, Mark Civitarese (The Unseen), Ashers aims to create a new sense of aggression on Kill Your Master, combining elements of hardcore, rock, punk, and metal to create a unique sound that will be a rallying cry for all fans of aggressive music. “I’m pumped on this album,” states Civitarese. “We recorded it at The Outpost, the same place where many great bands recorded: Blood for Blood, Dropkick Murphys, Slapshot – along with mine and Billy’s other bands – The Unseen and Crash and Burn. The album sounds killer, but is not overproduced – we wanted it to be very raw.”

MIAMI – Shroud Eater, South Florida’s DIY grunge/stoner rock trio, is offering a free download of their debut self-titled EP, in anticipation of the release of their debut full-length record, ThunderNoise, due out this fall. HEAVEN SHALL BURN’S ‘INVICTUS’ OUT NOW
Sixth studio album available in North America
THURINGEN, GERMANY – Germany’s politically charged heavy metal outfit, Heaven Shall Burn, has unleashed their sixth studio album, Invictus, in North America today, courtesy of Century Media Records. Invictus [the full title of which is Invictus (Iconoclast III)] is the third part of the “Iconoclast” story, following the 2008 release, Iconoclast, and the 2009 DVD, Bildersturm. Like its predecessors, Invictus will again tell stories about unconventional heroes, while shedding a different light on well-known idols and legends.
The new full-length, which Outburn Magazine calls, “the perfect marriage of metalcore and melodic death metal,” was recorded at Tue Madsen’s Antfarm Studio in Aarhus, Denmark. The album was produced by Heaven Shall Burn’s guitarists, Alexander Dietz and Maik Weichert.

Founded in 2003 by current members, David Bunton and Josh Childers, The Showdown literally came roaring out of the gate with the monstrous, yet spiritually gripping debut, A Chorus of Obliteration, in 2004. Despite numerous line-up changes, The Showdown has prevailed as one of Christian metal’s longstanding veteran acts. HEAVEN SHALL BURN LAUNCHES ALTERNATIVE ‘INVICTUS’ TRAILER
‘Invictus’ Out Next Week on Century Media Records
THURINGEN, GERMANY – Germany’s melodic death metal outfit, Heaven Shall Burn, has launched an alternative album trailer in anticipation of their forthcoming full-length record, Invictus. Invictus [the full title of which is Invictus (Iconoclast III)] was recorded at Tue Madsen’s Antfarm Studio in Aarhus, Denmark. The album was produced by Heaven Shall Burn’s guitarists, Alexander Dietz and Maik Weichert. It is the third part of the “Iconoclast” story, following the 2008 release, Iconoclast, and the 2009 DVD, Bildersturm. Like its predecessors, Invictus will again tell stories about unconventional heroes, while shedding a different light on well-known idols and legends.

ABSCESS CALLS IT QUITS, AUTOPSY BACK FULL TIME
New Autopsy EP, Full-Length in the Works
OAKLAND, CA – After 16 years of delivering punishing, extreme heavy metal, California’s Abscess has decided to call it quits. The band’s sixth and final studio album, Dawn of Inhumanity, was released in March on Peaceville Records.
Abscess drummer/vocalist, Chris Reifert, issued the following statement…
"Greetings, sickos. We need to inform you that Abscess has officially broken up. The reason for this is that Clint Bower has left the band for personal reasons, and out of respect to him and to all who have supported us for these 16 years, we have decided to call it a day. Without Clint Bower, there can be no Abscess, so we won't even try to cheat anyone with something that is not the real thing. Dawn of Inhumanity has become our final statement, and we feel that it is the perfect way to close the Abscess chapter, since we must do so. Thanks to all of you who were and still are proud to call yourselves Abscess Freaks!”
While Abscess has been officially laid to rest, the legendary Autopsy has been resurrected as a full time focus. Autopsy recently played at the eighth annual Maryland Deathfest, and has headlining performances scheduled for the Party San Open Air and the Hole in the Sky festivals this summer.
Autopsy comments, "As many of you know, for years it has been repeatedly stated that Autopsy was over with and done for good. While that was indeed true for a long span of time, it is no longer the case. Autopsy has come to the solid realization that the time is now right to resume their mission of gore soaked death metal brutality and to fulfill this mission with maximum intensity. Make no mistake about it, Autopsy is not about reliving the past, basking in nostalgia or riding on efforts from years long gone. The band is hungry to devour fresh minds and souls and has been amassing an arsenal of new and deathly material to unleash upon those who also hunger for such brutality. The surgical instruments are being sharpened and a pure death metal assault of the most horrific order is underway as you read these very words. On behalf of the band, thanks goes out to all who relented and simply would not allow this beast to remain in the grave. Your persistence will be met with unspeakable and unapologetic sonic atrocities. Let the blood flow...."
Autopsy will release a new EP, entitled ‘The Tomb Within’, this August on Peaceville Records. Artwork will come courtesy of renowned horror/fantasy artist, Matt Cavotta.
Autopsy’s fifth full-length record, Macabre Eternal, is due out early next year.
